Permaculture design course (weekend format):
Dates: 10 Saturdays in a row, October 2 - December 4, 2010. (This is a commuter course. Lunches are BYO/potluck.) Course will take place at an Austin location to be determined. Time 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Class starts promptly at 9; arrive anytime after 8:30 to get settled in, chat over coffee/tea, etc. Bring your own lunch (and some to share with others if you like). Also please help us reduce waste by bringing your own reusable cup, silverware, water bottle, etc.

Recommended Reading: This course follows the internationally recognized curriculum outlined in Bill Mollison’s Permaculture Design Manual. You aren’t required to buy or read the Manual, but we encourage you to get a copy of Introduction to Permaculture, by Bill Mollison and Reny Slay, and read this book before the class starts. Other good introductory books are Gaia’s Garden by Toby Hemenway, and The Permaculture Way by Graham Bell. If you can’t find these books locally (in Austin, Monkey Wrench Books is a good place to start), then get them online via Permaculture Activist, which offers an excellent selection of book and video titles.

About the instructor: The Austin commuter course is taught by Dick Pierce, who has worked as a permaculture teacher and designer in Austin and New England for many years. Course includes classroom instruction, hands-on projects (including your site design project), presentations by guest instructors, and field trips.
